A trip to
the Art of Cheese Cafe is a pilgrimage not to be missed. Whether for a nice
relaxing lunch with a glass of wine, for afternoon tea while the children
run around in the play area or as a group outing to gain a bit of knowledge
about cheese making, the Art of Cheese is the place to be.
Nestled in
the upper reaches of the picturesque Puhoi Valley in the winterless north of
New Zealand, the factory lovingly turns that rich, flavoursome and delicious milk into some of
the finest quality, speciality cheeses in the world.
The Art of
Cheese Cafe opened five years ago and has become increasingly popular with
its big parkland setting, great food and the chance to see how cheese is
being made. Despite the strict hygiene standards that limit access to the
factory, visitors can look through windows to see the cheese being made.
There is also a 12 minute video so people can see the whole process of
cheese-making. It would be hard to find a better place to learn about cheese
while enjoying yourself at the same time.
